In the Works

I've been wanting to start sewing things, but haven't had the room, inspiration, or just feeling inadequate. No more. I still need to pick up a couple of things for this, but I'm planning to make a couple of these pillows. One for Melody and one for Megan. I might even feel ambitious enough to make a couple more for my other younger nieces. We'll see how that goes.

This is a free pattern by Amy Butler, and I just think it's adorable. I'll post my finished pillow when I'm finished.

Dinner is Served

I got a little crafty last Saturday after seeing a similar idea from FlyLady. I just expanded upon it to make it fancier. I hope this will help me keep track of what's for dinner so much easier then just having it on a calendar. Time will soon tell. It's pretty though isn't it?
All I did was create a 81/2 x 11 image in photoshop and decorated it using a digital kit. Then I printed it out onto photo paper and placed inside a "certificate" frame I bought at Wal*Mart. You can write right on the glass of the frame with a dry erase marker all of the meals for the week.

Dude it's Hot

Oh my goodness but it has been so hot the past couple of weeks.  Every time I get in the car, the temperature pushes 108 degrees.  I know when we were shopping in Vegas last Saturday it hit 111 degrees.  It's ridiculous!

With working out, I've wanted to do more with the kids but just not a smart things with all the heat.  I just hope the summer rains decide to make their appearance soon or I may just have to melt into a puddle.

Weary Week, and the 4th!

Why is it that I can go through the day, get nothing accomplished and still be super exhausted? Two children is why.  Boy have Jordan and Melody been on the rampage this week.  Fighting over who gets to be first player on the Wii, running, hitting, yelling, throwing things.  I've just about had enough.

We did have fun on the 4th though.  Loney and I bought a pool for the kiddos to play in.  Nathan and Megan even enjoyed themselves.

After swimming for a while we went inside and colored some pictures celebrating Independence day, then a rousing round of Mario Party 8 ensued.  I accidentally burned the lasagna for dinner, but luckily it wasn't totally lost.  I'll know better next time to cover it with foil.  Oh well.

I had picked up a few fireworks and sparklers for the kids to enjoy, so we all went outside.  Amy was kind enough to light the fireworks, and the kids enjoyed watching the sparks fly.  Then of course the sparklers:

All in all, we had a fun filled 4th.
